How I become a better English teacher/tutor at 14

As a teenager that knows how to speak English in China. There are a lot of people ask me to teach their kids English, because hired a teenager is much cheaper than go to a ESL school. So I agreed, for I was thinking make money at 14 is kind of cool. That’s when I start my journey as a English teacher! To start from nothing it is very hard, but I asked a friend of mine that work as a teacher for 23 years to give me a simple LIST that change my life! So I figure these tips maybe will help u become a better teacher too!

!LIST!

1. Set up rules/laws, print it out on the wall. Rules is very important to shape your student’s behavior on class. Remember to explain it well! Do not say you need to….. say you need to do this because of…….You can even tell a story so your students can understand why obeying all the rules is important.
2. Prepare your class. though preparing class you can have a clear mind of what do you want to teach? Can the students understand it well? Does it benefit them?
3. Make a goal to reach every semester. this is very important! without a teaching goal your class will be like time wasting(killing time).but having a goal your class will be purposeful are easier to prepare your class as 2.
4. Be nice and listen to all your students. please don’t have favorite! kids can see it so clearly! and treat every kid fairly.

You may think that this list is very simple and maybe everyone knows, but as long you follow it. Maybe you will have unexpected things happen on your class! Just like me, at first I thought is very easy and simple too, but after I try it out, it just blow my mind how my students learn so many on my class! i highly encourage you to try it out!
